Fun, by definition, is anything that gives you pleasure. When we are in our 20s the definition of fun is slightly different (a part of the blame goes to underdeveloped frontal cortex; please blame their brains, and not them 😛😀), anything that’s forbidden is more fun.

Thank God, I am not in my 20s anymore, so my fun things are a little (or massively, depending on your perspective) subdued.

Reading has been my love since I was kid. Every year on most of the occasions, I would get books as gift. However, I could sustain this habit of reading largely because of my sister. While she was studying English Literature, she introduced me to the world of english classics and the other genres, which piqued my interest. Since then, books carried me through life (and through some difficult times). Today, I cannot imagine my life without my kindle by my side. And, if I dont read everyday, I feel something is amiss from life.

Recently I learned this skill, and since then it’s been a joy. It’s not just therapeutic, those repetitive movements slows you down and help you savour the moment. I don’t think about gifts to buy, I do gift them to people ( strangers and friends, alike 😛, whether they need it or not). But creating something does give you pleasure that cannot explained in words.

I often cook as I am not a big believer of eating out. And please don’t mistake that for love, I don’t love cooking. However, I do love to eat. I like cooking (believe me, there is a huge difference between love to cook and like to cook), and sometimes I cook for my friends. Most of the times (please translate to 100% ) they said they loved the meal I prepared for them. Having a nice evening with friends, food and wine, is a pleasure and a privilege I can say I enjoy. A good time out friends melts away a lot worries and stress of our regular lives.

This one thing is fun and relaxing for me at the same time. Every few months, I plan a day out with myself, and do things I love doing. I go to an art exhibition or a museum, or sometimes I become a tourist in my own city, and go on walking tours. That entire day spent with myself just rejuvenates me.

Now, who does not like traveling. My idea of travel is a go to a new place, interact with locals and enjoy the local food. Food is a big thing, while I am traveling. I cannot skip on food. And I really hope this year I travel more than last year.
