- Author: E. C. R. Lorac
A few years ago, I came across blog of @crossexaminingcrime , where she has mentioned a lot about golden age detective novels. I should thank her as she introduced me to a lot of the golden age detective authors and her blogs her so informative about authors from that age. She also introduced to British Library Crime Classics. Absolutely love this series of book. I will have another post just for the British Library Crime Classics. From that age, I now have one of my favourite author named, E. C. R. Lorac.
E. C. R. Lorac was pseudonyms for Edith Caroline Rivett. I have read a few of books by her, but two of them sticks in my mind. One is Death Came Softly, and the other being Accident by Design. E. C. R. Lorac’s character, DCI Robert Macdonald, who works with Scotland Yard, and goes around the country to solve the murder cases.

2. Author: Patricia Wentworth
Miss Silver Mysteries is a series of books written by Patricia Wentworth. This is one of the other gem of a author I found recently. Miss Silver will remind readers of Miss Marple, and the stories are filled with complicated mysteries. They are an absolute joy to read.

3. Book: Murder Underground
Written by Mavis Doriel Hay, this piece of mystery book takes place in Northern Line (of London Underground). Its a slow burner, but there is thrill and suspense in every page of the book. One can finish this book in just one reading.

4. Book: Wrong Time, Wrong Place
I have read previous books by Gillian McAllister, but this one was extraordinary. The concept and the way author holds the story is absolutely brilliant. I would recommend read this book without reading the summary, your mind will be blown.

5. Author: Tim Weaver
It was only in 2023, I came across Tim Weaver’s book series. I started with the book “The Black Bird”, and now going backwards in the series. The series has David Raker, who is a private investigator and solves missing person cases. I read three of his books, and they all were not just intriguing, but edge of the seat thrillers.

6. Author: Michael Robotham
I came across this author while watching ITV show, The Suspect. I absolutely loved the series, so I thought I will give author a try. The writing is great, and the protagonist is a psychologist with onset of Parkinson’s.

7. Book: The Kind Worth Saving
Of course, this book will be in this list. This is a follow-up or somewhat sequel to the original book, “The Kind Worth Killing”. Honestly, the book is not as interesting as the original book, but its Peter Swanson’s book, so it is easily a nail biting novel.

8. Author: Anna- Lou Weatherly
This book and author came as a total surprise. I delved into the book without reading the summary or with much expectation. And, I was pleasantly surprised! Now, I got a few of her books from the local library, and I am really looking forward it, along with an ARC from NetGalley.

Did you read any of these books? What are your thoughts? I would be happy if you leave a comment below to let me know…..
